I don’t feel like there’s a lot to say about me, in the context of a music blog. I love music, I’ve grown up with it. I think I was 9 when a clock radio came into my life, I can’t even recall if it was an FM radio, it might have been AM only…
Remember an Ottawa radio station introducing me to music in the early ’80s. Music in general was so wonderful back then. I developed a fairly diverse appreciation for pop music through the radio as well as my parent’s record collection. Somewhere in 1983/84, I got my first cassette tape, Eliminator by ZZ Top. I think I probably wore it out. I might be downstairs somewhere in my storage, I can’t remember.
The heavy metal leanings began somewhere in 1984ish. My neighbour friends at the time were big time into Motley Crue and several other of the “glam” metal bands. I slowly was absorbed into that “movement”. I remember thinking Metallica was too hard for my taste…until they weren’t. I was hooked by Master of Puppets and never looked back.
I’m not a person you would look at and instantly read “head banger”. Even today, when I reveal that about myself, I get a “look”.
The music is fun, powerful, and almost always tells a story…even if the stories are sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll, they’re still more powerful that most of the popular crap that “the kids” listen too now.
I will go to the grave loving metal.
