It’s a new day, and a new year. January 2026 is all about building a writing habit. I’ve got to remove the friction.

I though I’d start with a small piece of silly trivia.

The Iron Maiden album Powerslave was released on September 3, 1984, over 42 years ago. It was Maiden’s fifth studio album, and to this day is one of their absolutely most iconic pieces of work. I try not to think about the fact I was 13 when it came out. I think I received it on vinyl for a birthday…or Christmas…can’t remember.

The third track is titled Losfer Words. It has no lyrics and is just instrumental.

For years, I didn’t connect the name of the song with the fact it had no words.

Los…fer words…

Get it?

Yeah, sometimes I’m not the swiftest bird in the sky. I made the connection, suddenly, one morning about 10 years ago.

Happy 2026! I’m looking forward to a year of writing and sharing my thoughts on the music that I love…and don’t, just to round it out.
