How did this site get its name? How indeed…

I’ve been wanting to start a music oriented blog since…forever. Sadly though, as with any blogging effort, getting myself to write is a huge battle.

I’ll spend hours upon hours building my own platform from scratch, but when it comes time to write?

Crickets.

Well, I now have a platform that’s good enough. I WILL write.

This leads me to the name of this site. Judas Priest was (still is) famous for their album art. Back in the ’80s, when I first discovered them, the album Defenders of the Faith was fresh. The cover was this death machine thing:

I never knew what it was called, somehow in my mind, “Metallian” became “Metallion”. This stuck…for years…until I saw Judas Priest in Everett, WA in 2024. The truth was revealed when I bought my concert shirt, which had the death machine on it from Defenders.

Aha! I exclaimed…

Somehow I still promptly forgot when I purchased the domain name for this site in early 2025.

It stuck, but not enough for this 54 year old brain to remember.

No matter, crusty-metallion is unique and a decent enough name for a heavy metal themed music blog.
